Collecting contact details
Last reviewed:
Short answer
Tick what the agent should ask for, email, phone, city or budget, and it asks naturally when it fits the conversation. Whatever the person shares is saved on their contact: email and phone in their own fields, city and budget as properties.
What is saved where
| Detail | Saved as |
|---|---|
| The contact’s email field | |
| Phone | The contact’s phone field |
| City | Property “city” |
| Budget | Property “budget” |
You see the details on the contact in the inbox and in Contacts, and they are part of the CSV export.
Using the data
- A “Check conditions” step can require an email or a property value before a freebie goes out.
- Export contacts as CSV for your newsletter tool.
- For a strict email capture with a webhook to your newsletter tool, use the “Collect email” step in an automation; it fires the lead.email_collected webhook.

Is this allowed under GDPR?
The person shares the details themselves in the chat. Say what you use them for, e.g. in your knowledge base: “We use your email only to send the guide.”
