AI agent: answering DMs in your voice
Last reviewed:
The AI agent answers DMs that no automation handles, using only the facts in your knowledge base. It replies in the language the person writes in, collects details such as an email along the way and hands the chat to your team when someone is upset, asks for a person or mentions one of your handover topics.
When it replies
| Mode | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Every DM | Replies to everything an automation hasn’t handled. |
| Only specific topics | Replies only when the message is about one of your topics, e.g. pricing or bookings. |
| Only when handed over | Joins only when an automation hands over with the “Hand to AI agent” step. |
| Paused | Stays silent; your setup is kept. |
Setting it up
- 1 Voice
Pick a role, message length and style rules, and paste a few real replies so the agent copies your tone. “Learn from my past replies” fills this in from your inbox.
- 2 Goals
Describe your account, your audience and the goal, e.g. booking discovery calls.
- 3 Knowledge
Prices, FAQs and policies, one fact per line. The agent only states facts from here.
- 4 Data & links
Choose what to collect (email, phone, city, budget) and which links it may share.
- 5 Rules
Handover topics, folders it must never answer (friends, VIPs) and any other instructions.
The test chat on the right uses your unsaved settings and does not count towards your AI replies.
Handover and limits
When the agent hands over, the chat switches to Team and waits in your inbox. If the AI service cannot answer, DMowl also hands over instead of sending a meaningless reply.
AI replies per month: 50 on Free, from 1,000 on Plus. When they are used up, new chats wait for your team until next month.
Questions? Answers.
Can the agent make things up?
It is instructed to state only facts from your knowledge base and to hand over when it does not know. Keep the knowledge base short and precise.
Does it answer public comments?
No. Public comment replies come from your automations. The agent answers DMs.
