Instagram connection problems

Last reviewed:

Short answer

If the red “Instagram disconnected” bar appears, click Reconnect and log in with the same Instagram account. Most other problems come from a personal (not professional) account, “Allow access to messages” being off, or being logged in to the wrong account in the browser.

“Already connected to another DMowl account”An Instagram account can be connected to one DMowl account at a time. Disconnect it there first (Settings → Instagram), or ask that account’s owner to invite you.
“You logged in as a different account”When reconnecting, the browser was logged in to another Instagram account. Log out of Instagram in the browser, or use a private window, and try again.
The account isn’t offeredIt is a personal account. Switch to a professional account in the Instagram app (Settings → Account type and tools).
Connected, but DMs don’t arriveIn the Instagram app: Settings → Messages and story replies → Message controls → Connected tools → Allow access to messages. Then Reconnect.
Comments don’t arriveReconnect and keep all permissions ticked in the Meta window. Comments on posts from before the connection are not loaded.

Removing DMowl in Instagram

If you remove DMowl under Instagram → Settings → Apps and websites, DMowl loses access immediately. If you also ask Meta to delete your data, DMowl deletes all contacts, messages, comments and posts it received from that account. Your DMowl login and automations stay, so you can reconnect later.

Do I lose data when I reconnect?

No. Reconnecting only renews access. Contacts, chats and automations stay.
